Tomar has a long tradition of convent-inspired sweet baking. The most famous ones are made of sweet eggs’ threads and egg sweets with peculiar names, such as “Kiss me quickly” or the already extinct “Bed sweets”. You can buy them in bakeries like “Estrelas de Tomar”, located at the main street of the historical centre, the former “Corredoura” (Serpa Pinto street), a pedestrian street nowadays.
