Aldeia Viçosa

Description of the place: This village was known in the past as Aldeia do Porco (Pig Village), but the inhabitants decided to change its name to a more attractive one, choosing Aldeia Viçosa (Fertile Village). It is situated in Mondego valley, only a step away from Estrela Mountain Nature Park, still preserving several stone houses. It has a well-equipped river beach. In 2001, historian Vítor Serrão identified in Aldeia Viçosa a precious painting of Renaissance painter Grão Vasco depicting the Virgin.
