These small balls of yeast dough, very fluffy, are a specialty of the confectionery of Coimbra and its origin is linked to the convent of Santa Ana. Once it could be found with two shapes: round, as they are now, or as a horseshoe. During Easter, and in both cases, they were adorned with sugar.
