The technique used to make "amieiras" (wooden clogs) is similar to that used to make the baskets in Nandufe (municipality of Tondela). The wood used is from chestnut trees, mimosas, australias (similar to mimosas) and frangula. The craftsman (basket maker) uses the "banco de lavrar" to cut the strips and the "tripeça" (typical stool) to make the arches and join them with nails.
