The bobbin lace tradition is prior to the 18th century. Generally, the weaving is placed in lace pillows and above it a perforated thin cardboard with the drawing. Sometimes hundreds of bobbins must be used for certain types of laces that generally evoke popular motifs such as the lemon or the rose.
