Boca do Inferno (literally Hell’s Mouth) may have been an ancient grout, which resulted from the action of rain on limestones. Later the upper parts fell down, and a giant open-air cavity has remained, connected with the sea by an arch, through which the waves forced their way in. This geological curiosity is located immediately north from Cascais and the marina. It is one of its tourism highlights, especially when the sea is angry.
