Bulhão Pato was a writer, a poet and a politician. He is the author of "Memories", a work that portrays the social and political life of the second half of the nineteenth century. Also known by the recipes that he created, among these some became very famous such as the Castilian partridges and a great recipe for hare. But his name would be connected to a dish of clams, which, ironically, are not his work, but a tribute from another chef. This chef is believed to have been João Mata, former chef of the Hotel Bragança, in Lisbon.
