Observations: The medicinal mineral waters from this area are known for curing respiratory, skin and rheumatism problems.

Description of the place: This Medieval village was initially set at the top of a hill. It was firstly under the control of Avis Order, however by receiving the Manueline “foral” (Royal document) in 1512, the village became more autonomous, which actually led to its expansion. The most important streets were designed between the castle and Rossio area. Under the ruling period of D. João V, the village develops even further, due to the creation of the thermal stations in the nearby Sulfúrea.
