Caramulo Museum - Abel Lacerda Foundation

Caramulo Museum is regarded as one of the main museums in Portugal, since it has an extremely rich collection, covering a great variety of historical categories and periods from Antiquity to contemporary times. The collection presents the works of renowned artists, such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Miró, Vieira da Silva and jean Lurçat. Apart from a valuable painting collection, this museum also exhibits sculptures, 16th and 18th century silver works, 16th to 18th century furniture and archaeological exemplars, especially three Egyptian bronzes. The old-timer collection is located in another museum section, including a replica of the first automobile conceived by Karl Benz; a 1899 Peugeot; a Bugatti Type 35-B (the fastest competition car of that time); a Rolls-Royce Phantom III, known as the Pope car; and a bullet-proof Mercedes, the official car of Salazar.
