Almonda cave is located in the natural landscape of d’Aire mountain. It includes a network of underground galleries; some of them are fossil galleries, while others are still working nowadays. These galleries cover an 8km long area, presenting vestiges of continuous occupations from Palaeolithic to Roman period. Almonda cave is a true archaeological sanctuary, because it is rich in Pre-Historical artefacts. The found objects in the cave excavation can be seen in the National Archaeology Museum (in Lisbon) and in the headquarters of the speleological and archaeological group of Torres Novas.
