There are two variants of chestnut: fresh, and dried or peeled nuts. For the fresh chestnut, there are three varieties: 1) Variety Barea, early with hard perianth, dark dull brown and haired. Easy shelling, tasty, a bit acre and of larger caliber, 2) Variety Clarinha or Enxerta with hard perianth, light brown and shiny, hairy inside. With good fitness for the shelling, considered the tastiest of all varieties. 3) Variety Bravo with hard perianth, shiny and reddish brown, small hilum, easy to peel, tasty and with the highest percentage of moisture.
