Church of Santa Maria do Castelo was built inside Palmela Castle in the end of the 12th century, beginning of the 13th century. This temple, which is in ruins nowadays, was founded by Santiago Religious Order. Here you can visit a funereal Renaissance chapel and see the remains of 17th century tiles. Among other archaeological vestiges that can be observed on the floor, the table holders of convent refectory are also worth highlighting.
