Currently Town Hall building, São Francisco Convent was founded in the 17th century, sponsored by Távora family. This Mannerism building includes a beautiful church with Jesuit influences and Latin cross configuration. This church stands out for its bell tower crowned with pinnacles. The interior is rich in terms of iconography, presenting a peculiar choir that has preserved the Friars’ chairs, decorated with several animals, such as lions, cats, dogs, tigers, owls and pelicans.
