It is the longest and the most studied Roman archaeological site in Portugal. This fortified city, built upon an ancient village of the Bronze Age, is situated on the road that connected Olisipo (Lisbon) to Bracara Augusta (Braga) and passed by Aeminium (Coimbra). Alcabideque water spring supplied the water to Conímbriga through an aqueduct that was over 3,5 km long. You should draw a closer look to several facilities, such as the House of the Fountains with its central garden and mosaics depicting mythological scenes, hunting and primitive animals; the Forum, and Trajan thermal stations. In the 20th century, Coimbra Monographic Museum opened its doors in this place. (National Monument)
