This green location soon became the place, where thermal hospital patients used to walk. During Marquis de Pombal period (the second half of the 18th century), it was transformed in a Baroque garden that was called Passeio da Copa. Redesigned in the end of the 19th century by Rodrigo Berquó, it took the shape of the current park and a lake was added to it. Game fields, former hospital pavilions, painting and sculpture José Malhoa Museum are located here.
