Folques Monastery

This Medieval monastery is located in a valley next to Folques river stream. The oldest elements are the bell tower and a 14th century cloister integrated in a 16th century building. The monastery includes Baroque elements in a second cloister and wooden altarpieces in the church. The church, dedicated to Saint Peter, dates back to the 18th century. In the interior, you will find altarpieces (main and collateral altarpieces) in gilt carved wood of the end of the 17th century; 15th century limestone sculptures representing several saints; 18th century wooden sculptures depicting Saint Theotonius and a Manueline holy water baptismal font. The classification National Trust Building includes the artistic filling and a nearby property. A Professional School is housed in this place, benefiting from the rich surrounding landscape of the region.
