This fortress began to be built in 1641, but it underwent several changes and improvement works throughout the following centuries. In 1947, it was transformed in a summer camp (of the Religious Nuns of the Immaculate Heart of Mary) and in 1947, leisure association Associação Recreativa Forte Clube da Consolação settled here. It is closed nowadays. (National Monument)
