Set upon a fort hill, the origins of Guarda Walls are lost in time. The construction of these walls began under D. Sancho I by the end of the 12th century. Three of the five original doors remained: Estrela door, d’El Rei door and Ferreiros door. The later has a battlement that was built under the ruling period of D. Dinis.
