Apart from students’ feast Queima das Fitas, all festivities in Coimbra are centred upon city’s patron saint, Holy Queen Isabel. Every two years, usually on the first Thursday of July, the body of the Queen is carried from Santa Clara-a-Nova Convent (where it habitually lies) in a solemn procession across the river, to centrally located Graça Church, where it will rest until Sunday.
