This fortress is located over a rocky promontory in the valley of Arouce river stream in front of Nossa Senhora da Piedade hermitage. Its uneven wall surrounds a small terrain and in the inside lays a 14th century keep with battlements on top. Castle’s entry has two battlements. Along the castle’s walls there are three more battlements. This castle was a strategic place during the period of the Christian Conquer, for it sustained the Moorish invasions that came from Zêzere valley. (National Monument)
