A very tasty meat obtained from animals of the Bisaro breed, fed on chestnut. Bisaro Pigs originated in the Celtic stem, and there are in Portugal in two varieties: the white spotted that is in the Minho and black or black spotted in Trás-os-Montes. From the need to keep their meat throughout the year, a large diversity of sausages have been made: "Salpicões", meat "chouriças", "butelos", "alheiras", bread "chouriço", sweet "chouriças" and ham. Bisaro meat is also much appreciated in traditional dishes such as roast pork or Trás-os-Montes style stewed beans.
