Contacts

This lavishly vegetated volcanic crater rises upon the western side of the bay, offering a beautiful view over the city of Angra do Heroísmo and the port. It is as if its imposing silhouette protected the whole bay. The mount is surrounded by S. João Baptista Castle, built during Filipe dynasty ruling. It is the longest wall ever built in the whole of the Spanish empire. Monte Brasil is classified as protected landscape, because of its natural landscape characteristics, playing a major role in historical terms.
