Dating back to 1640, this tradition originates in a promise made by the people of Alcains to Saint Peter, where the saint intervention was requested to chase away a plague of locusts. Believers promised a feast on the first weekend of September, with religious festival on Sunday. Monday was the day of the meal of corn porridge. The recreational association of Alcains now revives the tradition, offering the traditional porridge in the main square of the town.
