Crystal-clear waters in the forest immensity
The origins of this very ancient town date back to the Roman ruling period, as testified by some vestiges found in the region. The landscape is covered by fertile valleys abundant in agricultural products and by green pine trees. Pinhal zone is the largest wild pine tree area in Europe. Recognising this treasure, local municipality opened the interesting live science centre dedicated to the forest, offering several activities and events. Forest exploration is indeed council’s main economical activity with plenty of crystal-clear water streams flowing through the valleys and providing these lands with freshness and beauty. Proença-a-Nova also offers excellent conditions for outdoor activities and nature itineraries, namely in the surroundings of pleasant river beaches.
