Quinta da Bacalhoa, located between Setúbal and Azeitão, was built in the 16th century. The gardens and their genial hydraulic system are some of the most outstanding in Portugal. As fas as aesthetics is concerned, these gardens represent a compromise between Renaissance taste and Portuguese tradition. The panel depicting “The Kidnapping of Europe” in a garden bench is worth highlighting.
