Opened in September 2005, Environmental Education Complex Quinta da Gruta, within an extensive natural area, has as main objectives to raise awareness of environmental preservation and to enable to the public, especially children, the contact with a number of activities related to agricultural life and the animal world. The complex includes cultivation and rearing areas, an oven to bake the bread, an orchard from which come the fruits to make the jams, laboratories for analysis of water, soil and food quality, and themed tours.
