Situated next to Porta de Alegrete in Rua 19 de Julho St., in Portalegre, it was one of the city’s most important convents. Founded by 1376 by Queen D. Leonor Teles, married to D. Fernando, it would undergo many changes during the 15th and the 16th centuries, namely the cloisters and other facilities. Part of the earthly cloister remains from the former convent with quite simple capitals and ogee arches.
