Situated by the sea, this castle was erected in 1640 after the Restoration of independence, in order to replace Ferragudo Castle. This castle was among the few not devastated by 1755 earthquake, because it was built in massive rock. In 1896, it was sold by auction and approximately one century later, the parish council requires the fort concession, in order to create there a cultural centre. It has Modern era architectural style, a trapezium-chaped plan with several attached constructions in different heights. The keep has battlements, which makes it particularly interesting.
