This Mannerism style temple was erected during the ruling period of D. João V. The interior of the church is totally covered by Baroque tiles, depicting the life of the Apostle Saint Peter. It has preserved an important heritage of sculpture and painting, along with 17th century paintings of the lateral chapels and the main chapel. You should also draw your attention to the 16th century sculpture representing Santiago, the Pilgrim in multicoloured wood that can be found in the sacristy. (National Trust Building)
