MORE INFORMATION

Description of the place: São Romão is a quite old village and the wealthiest in Seia council, not only in terms of natural resources, but also of architectural heritage. You can not miss the fort hill Castro de São Romão, where several archaeological vestiges have been found. In the place of Nossa Senhora do Desterro lays a big granite rock, locally known as “Cabeço da Velha” (literally, “old woman’s head”), which is actually one of the greatest attractions of Estrela mountain. In the surrounding area, there is a quite pleasant river beach, along with eight chapels. One of them is the Chapel of the Teachers, unique in Portugal, since it presents imposing real-scale images of Jesus discussing with the Teachers in the Temple.
