Built around the 12th century next to Ansiães castle, this church is considered a jewel of Romanic architecture in Portugal, due to highly valuable and original elements. This is the case of Christ in Majesty iconography in the main door, which is the most complex exemplar of this style in the country. Also worth highlighting in the church are the representations of the Apostles, as well as two other emblematic characters who may well be Judas (with the demon on his lap) and on the other side, an elder (probably Moses) with the Ten Commandments. In the interior, the triumphal arch that separates the main chapel from the main body is ornamented with geometrical décor.
