The current building was constructed in the end of the 16th century. Its complex structure reveals continuous changes throughout the ages, namely in the 17th century. This structure in different levels fits the deeply sloping ground. Our attention should be drawn to both the baroque fountain known as “Mãe d’Água” and the surrounding green forest. This building has been wisely converted into a hotel (Hotel São Paulo), making the most of the former convent facilities.
