Founded in 2001, the Stone Museum assembles a collection of stone pieces and the tools used in this process. Most of the pieces were made by local sculptors. You can also observe the geological characterization of the council, the methods used in stone extraction and a set of palaeontology findings of local quarries. In Cantanhede council, namely in Ança, Portunhos and Outil civil parishes, are located the reservoirs of famous Ançã stone. This region is quite rich in this stone, which has fuelled local economic development. It is actually one of the main stone extraction centres in the country.
