The Boards’ Feast in Tomar is held every four years in the beginning of Summer. It is one of the most interesting and sought-after Portuguese feasts. This feast celebrates the fruits of the earth and its sharing, inspired by ancient Pre-Roman traditions and the brotherhood values associated with Franciscan Friars an the Holy Spirit Cult. The greatest highlight of the Boards’ Feast is the parade with hundreds of girls (dressed in white accompanied their escorts) carrying a flower arrangement on their heads, consisting of breads placed on canes with a dove and a Holy Spirit crown on top.
