Founded in 1929 in the Brotherhood Irmandade dos Clérigos Pobres was primitively an ancient art museum. Later it assembles archaeology collections in the building of Santa Casa da Misericórdia. In 1989, it moved permanently to the former Graça Convent, a beautiful religious building, founded in the 16th century by Eremites Calçados de Santo Agostinho. The current heritage consists of important collections, from archaeology to sacred art, from palaeontology to contemporary painting, as well as historical centers on the municipality and the famous Linhas de Torres defensive system.
