Today virtually disappeared, the practice of tuna fishing would have been practised in the region since the time of the Phoenicians' or the Carthaginians' occupation. Scattered along the coast, the "almadravas" or frames evidenced its importance in the region's economy. Among the various dishes, one of the most popular is the estupeta prepared with meat from the belly of the tuna.
