It is one of the best-kept secrets of the rural area of Évora. Valongo Castle is located in the surroundings of Montoito, on the way to Reguengos de Monsaraz. In the Summer the granite walls seem to float in a sea of wheat ears. Its construction dates back to 1283. Some remodelling works were carried out in the 15th century in the keep, the brick arch covers, the stairs and the balcony windows. It has a square plant with towers in the angles. It was a former mannor house.
