Even today we find workshops in Vila do Conde, where pieces of iron are worked according to true traditional processes. One can find true masterpieces such as railings, gates, windmills or doorknobs. The technical work has the following phases: the iron gets red hot in the forge, threshed on the anvil with hammers and finally it is twisted with pincers.
